Jonathan Funk is a freelance photographer born in Mannheim, Germany.
He is currently based in Hannover, works according to journalistic standards and is mainly dedicated to long-term documentary projects, as well as reportages and portraits.
Influenced by his professional experience in social work, his projects focus primarily on socio-cultural and political topics. Born into a working class family, he developed his visual language as an autodidact. In his work, he always places his images in a larger social context and likes to break with common narratives. In 2024, he was awarded a scholarship from the Hans-Böckler-Foundation, which allows him to dedicate himself full-time to the further development of his photographic journey. He is currently studying documentary photography and photojournalism at Hanover University of Applied Sciences & Arts.

He is available for Assignments.
